Apply For Aadhaar Card without Documents

UIDAI issues Aadhaar Card, which is an essential document for proof of address and identity. It contains a 12-digit identification number which is unique to individuals. Residents of India and NRIs can apply for this document. The objective of Aadhaar is to equip citizens with a unique identity and a digital platform. This aims to authenticate demographic and biometric information of the card holder. The government has taken efforts to make it easier for everyone and anyone to apply for Aadhaar.

There is a huge network of enrolment centres throughout the country. A person can download the enrolment form online and visit the enrolment centre to drop the Aadhaar application. To apply for this Card, the person has to furnish a few documents such as proof of identity, address, birth date and age. However, if an individual does not have these documents, he/she can still apply for Aadhaar without documents. UIDAI has laid down a set of rules and a new process in such a case.

How to Apply for Aadhaar Card without Documents?

An applicant may not have proof of address, age, or identity. But people who lack these documents can still enrol for Aadhaar and apply for it at an enrolment centre. For this, the applicant will require help of a pre-designated ‘Introducer’. Registrar and Regional offices authorize, identity, and notice an Introducer. He/she has the authority to introduce the applicant who does not have the documents to apply for an Aadhaar Card.

Who is an Introducer for Aadhaar?

Like discussed above, an Introducer is authorized by a Regional or Registrar office. He/she has to be over 18 years of age. This person should not have any criminal record. Examples of Introducers are Registrar’s employees, healthcare workers, postmen, local NGO representatives, teachers, Anganwadi workers, doctors, or elected local body members.

  • In some cases, the UIDAI can take the effort to gather Introducers and simplify the task for residents and Registrars.
  • Introducers are linked to a particular Registrar.
  • So, a single Registrar can take assistance of the same Introducer more than once.
  • But, the Introducers are allowed to only introduce residents that fall within that particular Registrar’s jurisdiction.

What Are the Duties of an Introducer?

Below-mentioned are the responsibilities of an Introducer:

  • It is mandatory for every Introducer to attend a workshop on Aadhaar awareness. The workshop is oriented to make the attendees understand their responsibilities and roles as an Introducer, better. This workshop is held by the Registrar in association with UIDAI.
  • The Introducer should have an Aadhaar number of his own before introducing residents.
  • The Introducer has to provide a written consent that he/she is willing to take up the said role and that they will follow the UIDAI’s laid down procedures for the same. The consent has to be written in the prescribed format.
  • The Introducer should ensure that he/she is available for residents in the working hours of the Aadhaar enrolment centre. Another responsibility is to ensure that their phone number is correctly displayed at this centre.
  • To endorse the enrolment of a resident, the Introducer must provide his/her biometric for the applicant.
  • The Introducer is also responsible to check the address of the residents. He/she also has the authority to approve or reject the same.
  • The Introducer is not allowed to take any fee for introducing any Aadhaar applicant. But the concerned Registrars have the power to honour the Introducers for their assistance and work.

Thus, if an individual does not have the required documents for an Aadhaar Card application, then with help of an authorized Introducer, the person can still go and apply for this document. But, if a person has the necessary documents for the application, he/she cannot take the help of an Introducer for the procedure.
