Voter ID Online Registration
Citizens can apply for voter card online by filling form 6 which can be done either online (through website) or offline (by submitting forms at electoral offices). After verification of documents and form, the voter card is sent to the applicant through post.
Online voter registration
It is quite easy for people to apply online for voter ID card than to fill up complex form, wait in the queue for hours and waste time in offline case. Moreover, chances of typing mistake or numerical error also minimize in the case of online application. Hence, it is quite fast, simple and superior mode of application of voter card. Registration for application of voter card can be done online by visiting the website of election commission of India. One can follow following steps to apply voter ID card online:
- Visit national voters' services portal's website http://www.nvsp.in/ and choose form 6 there under the heading 'forms for registration in e-roll' in the left side of the screen'.
- Click 'apply online for registration of new voter' under "national services" option and choose the name of the State and assembly constituency based on your location.
- Then you need to enter your personal detail like name, gender, date of birth, place of birth, father's/ mother's/ husband's name, address, etc and provide scanned copies of your photograph, identity proof (Aadhar card or passport or PAN) and address proof(Aadhar card, passport)
- Enter declaration details and click on 'Save' if you want to continue later with submitting or 'submit' if done.
After submitting the form, you will be provided an application reference ID. This ID needs to be noted down so that you are able to track the status of your online application of voter ID card. A text message will also be sent to you regarding this matter. To approve your application, ECI's representative will carry out a verification based on your application.
