1. Who Can Apply?
- A resident individual who does not have complete KYC.
- It means that as an applicant, you must not have photo ID proof and address proof as per the bank’s accepted list of documents.
- You do not have an existing banking relationship with HDFC.
2. KYC Norms
- You have to submit the evidence that you have applied for KYC documents as per the acceptable ones by the bank.
- This is necessary to be done within 12 months of opening the account.
- Also, you must consent to provide the actual and valid KYC (photograph, address proof, identity proof) which is accepted by the bank, within 24 months of opening the account.
3. Operating the BSBDA Small Account
- As a holder of HDFC Basic Savings Bank Deposit Small Account, you must adhere to certain transactional limits.
- The total credit in your account should never go over Rs. 1 lakh at any time.
- Or, in a month the total transfers and withdrawals must not exceed Rs. 10,000.
- The total account balance must never go beyond Rs. 50,000 at any time.
- In case the account balance goes over Rs. 50,000, then you cannot undertake any more credit transactions, till the balance does not get lower than Rs. 50,000.
- In a financial year, if the credits’ aggregate exceeds Rs. 1 lakh, then you cannot undertake any other credit transactions till the financial year’s end.
- If you exceed the limit of Rs. 10,000 per month for transfers and withdrawals, then you cannot perform any other debit transactions till the calendar month’s end.

Rs. 20 is chargeable for Debit Card transactions on non-HDFC Bank international ATM. The bank will apply a cross-currency mark-up of 3.5% on transactions of foreign currency. The VISA/Master Card exchange rate applies during a transaction. Rs. 50 is for PIN regeneration.
Charges for a cheque drawn at bank locations for a regular savings account:
- Rs. 25 for all areas and Rs. 20 for senior citizens and rural branches for an amount up to Rs. 5,000.
- Rs. 50 for all areas and Rs. 40 for senior citizens and rural branches for an amount between Rs. 5,001 and Rs. 10,000.
- Rs. 100 for an amount between Rs. 10,001 and Rs. 1 lakh.
- Rs. 150 for Rs. 1,00,001 and above
At non-CTS locations, cheques drawn on Speed Clearing Branches:
- No charges for an amount up to Rs. 1 lakh.
- Rs. 140 per instrument for an amount Rs. 1,00,001 and over.
- No charges for cheques drawn on Speed Clearing Branches at CTS locations.
The same charges apply for cheques drawn on non-branch locations for a regular savings account. There are no charges for cheques drawn on Speed Clearing Branches at CTS locations. For cheques drawn on speed clearing branches at non-CTS locations, no charges for up to Rs. 1 lakh. The charges are Rs. 140 per instrument for an amount of Rs. 1,00,001 and over.
Free and unlimited deposits. You can make 4 withdrawals maximum in a month free-of-cost through any mode such as cash at ATM, IMPS, branch, NEFT, Clearing, RTGS, MC/DD issuance, etc. From the 5th instance onward, the fee is according to the type of withdrawal mode:
- Cash withdrawal at non-home or home branch for self/third party from the 5th transaction onward is Rs. 150 per instance + taxes.
- For transactions for third-party cash, the per-day maximum limit is Rs. 25,000. Above this amount, the bank does not allow the transaction.
The charges are Rs. 50 + charges as given below:
- Rs. 10 for up to Rs. 500
- Rs. 15 for above Rs. 500 to Rs. 1,000
- Rs. 25 for above Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000
- Rs. 30 for above Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000
- Rs. 5 per Rs. 1,000 or part thereof for above Rs. 10,000 (minimum and maximum Rs. 75 and Rs. 10,000, respectively)
Issuance Charges for DD/MC Through Branch:
- For up to Rs. 10,000, it is Rs. 50. For over Rs. 10,000, it is Rs. 1 per Rs. 1,000 or total amount. The minimum and maximum charges are Rs. 75 and Rs. 10,000, respectively.
- The bank accepts a DD amount of up to Rs. 1 lakh through phone banking for Imperia/Preferred and other customers up to Rs. 50,000.
- Charges for DD request through net banking for up to Rs. 10 lakhs are Rs. 50 + corr. Bank charges. For DD up to Rs. 1 lakh (third-party) it is Rs. 50 + corr. + bank charges.
