You can track EPF (Employee Provident Fund) claim status both online and offline. It is possible to track the EPF claim status on EPFO portal, UAN portal, Umang App, and through a missed called and sending an SMS. To check the claim status, you will need your Universal Account Number. The aim of Employee Provident Fund is to build a retirement corpus through regular monthly contributions by the employer and employee (till retirement age). Withdrawal from the Provident Fund account is restricted to certain conditions at maturity or before. You can make full or partial withdrawals of the EPF balance.

Which EPF Claim Form Will You Need?
You may want to withdraw money from EPF account. You can make partial or full withdrawal. The reason for withdrawal should meet the eligibility criteria by the EPFO. The EPF withdrawal form will depend on your age, reason for withdrawal, and if you are currently employed or not. To withdraw PF amount, you need to submit the withdrawal form, provide UAN number, and Aadhaar details.
- You need the Composite Form, if your age is less than 58 years and the reason for withdrawal is unemployment/left the company given a physical disability/an advance on the EPF amount.
- If you are a nominee, then you require Form 28 and 10D. This is applicable if the deceased has at least completed 10 years in employment. In case that is not the case, then you have to submit the Composite Form.
- You require Form 14 if you want to take out PF amount for your LIC policy.
- You have to submit Form 13 in case of a job change, and want to transfer EPF amount to your EPF account.
- You can settle EDLI (Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme) amount through Form 51F in all forms.
How to Check Your EPF Claim Status Online?
You can track EPF claim status on EPFO portal, UAN member portal, UMANG App, through SMS, or a missed call. Here are the steps for the same in detail:
1) Track EPF Claim on EPFO Portal
Here is a method to view EPF claim status online:
- Visit the EPFO portal here to check the claim status.
- Under the tab ‘Services’, find the option ‘For Employees’.
- Click ‘Know Your Claim Status’ from the heading ‘Services’.
- Now click the option ‘Click here to get redirected to the passbook application’.
- After clicking this button, you will be redirected to the passbook portal for further process.
- Now login to your account with your UAN and password, and then enter the captcha.
- After login, click ‘View Claim Status’. You will get to know the status of the EPF claim here.
2) Check EPF Claim Status on UAN Member Portal
Here is one of the simplest ways to track EPF claim online:
- Visit the UAN Portal here.
- Enter the UAN, password, and captcha.
- Click ‘Sign in’.
- You will be directed to your UAN member profile
- Click ‘Online Services’ from a drop-down in the tab menu.
- Click ‘Track Claim Status’.
- Now you can see your status for the claim.
- If you scroll down, you will find ‘Transfer Claim Status’.
3) See the EPF Claim Status on UMANG App
Download the UMANG app on your mobile phone to check EPF claim online:
- Select ‘EPFO’ option on the app, and click on it.
- Select ‘Employee Centric Services’.
- Open ‘Track Claim’ option.
- Enter your UAN, click ‘Get OTP’.
- You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number with EPFO.
- Enter the OTP, click ‘Login’.
- Now you will be able to see details on the claims made on the UAN. You can see the claim status, tracking ID to claim raised date, etc.
4) Check EPF Claim Status by Sending an SMS
From your registered mobile number with EPFO, send an SMS to 7738299899 to check your EPF claim status. After sending the SMS, you will receive the last PF contribution and balance details. The SMS format should be ‘EPFOHO UAN LAN’. Here ‘UAN’ stands for your Universal Account Number and ‘LAN’ transfer for the language code/language in which you want to get the details. 5) Check EPF Claim Status Through Missed Call
If you wish to check the EPF claim status offline, then you can give a missed call on toll-free number 011-22901406. The missed call should go from your registered mobile number. The call will get automatically disconnected once you ring it up. And you will get the EPF details with claim status through an SMS.
- To use the missed called facility you must have an activated mobile number with UAN at Unified Portal.
- You must have KYC completed with the UAN.
- The KYC process includes linked PAN, Aadhaar, and bank account number.
Frequently Asked Questions about EPF Claim Status
Here are the FAQs on status for EPF claim:
Your PF claim status if shows as rejected, the reason for the same could be incomplete KYC, inaccurate bank details, incorrect birth date, non-linked UAN and Aadhaar, or non-fulfilment of conditions for which you can withdraw EPF balance.
If the EPF claim shows as ‘Not Available’, then it means that claim made and its status has not been updated yet. This may happen due to the claim settlement still in process or due to a technical issue. In case after a few days, if the status still shows as unavailable, then you can drop a grievance on EPFO website.
If your claim status shows as settled, then it means that the EPF balance has been processed by the department. The claim raised has also been transferred to your bank account.
It can take up to 10 days to settle EPF claim. If you raise the claim via an offline method, it can take few more days for claim settlement. It can take up to 15 days for claim settlement if the claim is done through grievance redressal management.
Once you initiate a claim on your EPF account, there is no option to cancel it online. But you may get in touch with the EPFO-Regional Office to cancel the request before the withdrawal process is completed.
