Steps to Retrieve Lost Aadhaar UID and EID

Anyone who has an Aadhaar Card or applied for it can submit request to retrieve the lost Aadhaar UID/EID number at the UIDAI website.

• Visit the UIDAI website. Here, you can access several online services related to this document. One of such service is to recover your lost Aadhaar details.
• Now, click Retrieve Lost UID/EID option. You will get redirected to another pag
• Here, select one of the options below:

A) Recover Aadhaar Number (UID)

B) Recover Aadhaar Enrolment Number (EID)

• In the specific fields, enter your full name (as per that provided in the enrolment form), your registered mobile number, or email address.
• Enter the captcha code for verification.
• Click 'Send OTP'. You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter it in the relevant field on this page.
• After the verification process, the Aadhaar UID/EID will be sent to your registered mobile number or email ID.

NOTE: If you do not have your mobile number or email address registered/updated in the Aadhaar card have to visit the nearest Permanent Enrolment Centre and complete the retrieval procedure for UID number or EID.

• Which documents do you need to retrieve lost Aadhaar UID/EID?
  You do not have to provide any document to recover the lost/forgotten Aadhaar EID and UID. You have to provide only your contact details as registered during the Aadhaar enrolment. These details include your email address or mobile number. Any one of this information will do.
• Do you have to pay a fee to get the lost information?
  To get the forgotten information like the enrolment ID or Unique Identity Number, you do not have to pay any fee. The procedure is available free-of-cost online on UIDAI website.
• What is e-Aadhaar Card and its use?
  An e-Aadhaar is a digital copy of your physical Aadhaar Card. You can download and print it. This document is valid for all types of services and authentication done on behalf of a physical hard-copy of the document. If you have lost the original Card, then you can use the UID or EID to get the e-Aadhaar.

What is the password for unlocking of e-Aadhaar?

When you download the e-Aadhaar, you cannot directly print it. To open and view this digital document, you need to enter a password. The e-Aadhaar password is a combination of first 4 characters of your name and birth year in YYYY format. The details should be same as the one you provided at the time of Aadhaar Card enrolment. Here is an example of the password:

• Example 2:

Name: Sai Pawar

Birth Year: 1975

Year of Birth: 1985

NOTE: The (.) full stop is a special character, and is counted in the password. Thus, when counting 4 characters, it should not be DNAI but D.NAI
